About Arlington

If you are considering moving to Arlington, let us tell you a bit more about this city.

Situated on the midway between Fort Worth and Dallas, Arlington is in an ideal position for healthy living. You are not exposed to the crowd and noise of a big city, but you are close enough to all the excitement and entertainment since downtown Dallas is not far away.

There is easy access there. It takes you forty minutes to Dallas and twenty minutes to Fort Worth from here.

One of the cons is a lack of public transportation because the streets aren’t made for bus stops. It is also not a friendly walking place, so you can expect driving a car to commute. You can expect hot weather with high humidity in summer months, but the average summer temperature is only 83 degrees F.

Anyway, winters are mild, so the climate is affordable overall.

There is no typical downtown in Arlington. It is just the area of The University of Texas, which can be considered downtown, along with the famous Big Baptist Church, which provides shelter for homeless people.

Did you know?

Before Las Vegas, it was Arlington! Arlington was the largest gambling destination in the country in the ‘30s and ‘40s. An illegal casino drawing in guests such as Al Capone, Bonnie & Clyde, Clark Gable and Mae West was operated in Arlington as “Top O’ Hill Terrace.” It is now Arlington Baptist University. Tours are available by reservation.

What does Arlington have to offer?

Arlington is a pretty safe, generic and family-friendly city with a little local flavor.

It is also an excellent place for young couples and singles with good job opportunities. The people there will welcome you with open arms.

The population is just over 380,000. The town’s growth is impressive, and you may say that it has both a suburb and an urban feel. The town has a decent economy. There are beautiful neighborhoods for everybody, depending on what you are looking for. Life is relaxed, and you have a safe feeling of a small town. Home prices vary, but the average home in Arlington is 130,000$.

The University of Texas at Arlington is proud to be one of the most diverse college campuses. They have students from 123 different nations, who practice international cooperation in three hundred student organizations all over the world.

  • Six Flags Over Texas

You will be the most popular parent on the block when you take the family for a fun day out at the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park.

The park offers a whole host of amazing activities for all ages including family rides, thrill rides, kid’s rides, live shows and much, much more.

The facility boasts no fewer than 18 family-friendly rides which include the very popular Roaring Rapids water ride, a classic carousel and Speedway Go Karts.

Daredevils will want to head straight to the thrill rides which include the Batman inverted roller-coaster, Cat-woman Whip and the Judge Roy classic wooden roller-coaster. If you live nearby you can buy a Season Ticket to enjoy the fun all season long.

  • Legal Draft Beer Company

Legal Draft Beer Company was Arlington’s first production brewery at its July 2016 opening.

The brewery, which was founded by Curt Taylor and Greg McCarthy, is located in the city’s downtown district near AT&T Stadium and is known for its clever year-round beer styles, including favorites like its Presumed Innocent IPA, Free and Clear Gluten-Free Helles Lager, Accused Amber Lager, Chief Justice Stout, and Hung Jury Hefeweizen.

Guests can enjoy drafts, flights, and tastings Thursdays through Sundays at the brewery’s family-friendly taproom, which offers a stock of games for visitors to play while they enjoy beers. Tours are offered on Saturday afternoons, overviewing the company’s brewing production methods.

Arlington’s residents love to celebrate. That’s why so many festivals are held here all year long: April’s and October’s food truck festivals, Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games in May, Art Festival in September and Christkindl German holiday market in November and December.

Top O’Hill Terrace is a historical park in The Village Creek Historical Area.

Everyone, who lives in Arlington, should take a tour, enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn much of the fascinating American Historical data. Even if you are not a history fan, you will be amazed by this real town’s treasure.

Arlington is said to be the home of Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. It is truly a sports town, especially during the baseball season. For sports fans, there is the Rangers Ballpark. The city government is proud of the huge stadium, built for The Dallas Cowboys. The people here love bowling, and they even have The International Bowling Museum.

DId you know?

Two-feet long and weighing over a pound, Texas Rangers fans at Rangers Ballpark will never go hungry thanks to the $26 “Boomstick” All-Beef Hot Dog. This massive meal can feed a family of 4!

The artificial Lake Arlington was originally made to supply drinking water for the town, but now it is a beautiful spot for fishing and recreational boating.

It is also interesting to mention that MENSA chose to have its US headquarters here.
